ar: AR has ceased to grow? 89,376 members? - 06/06/08 05:23 PM
89,376 seems to be the count for a several days now, at least since Casey Brischle wrote his piece.
Members on line has shown growth, but the member count is frozen at 89,376.
So... is it time for us to all go recruiting? To discover the next Babe Ruth of Blogging?

ar: Blogging: Conversational or naked incessant self-promotion? - 05/17/08 07:37 AM
I loved Jonathan Washburn's last post. "What makes a good real estate blog post?" The graph is great, and the call to action to produce quality real estate content, while requesting tolerance for personal content is very well expressed.
And quite honestly, I need to zoom in my personal blogging focus

ar: I met Bobby Carroll today! - 04/06/08 08:11 PM
I did! I was loitering over at the Southern Ideal Home Show, touting my business, and a pleasant feller with a twinkle in his eye told me he reads my stuff on ActiveRain. "Uh-oh. I hope that's a good thing," I said. "I'm Bobby Carroll," he replied. Well, shucks. What a pleasure. Bobby quickly revealed

"It was a dark and stormy night..." That did not deter the local AR faithful. And a dark and stormy night is a good thing when you have a serious drought. Eleanor Thorne arranged for us to get a corner at the Carolina Ale House to meet, and chat. Scott Hoyt and Craig

ar: Photos of private homes on the 'Net? I say, "Yes." - 02/09/08 08:30 AM
Miriam Bernstein started another round of discussion regarding using private home photos on AR and Localism. After a couple of hundred words in response, I thought, "Gee, this is a post of its own." I post neighborhood profiles with photos of homes. I have hundreds of photos in my AR and Localism blogs, and some

ar: Cary NC Real Estate, Do you do "Animal House" Real Estate? - 10/18/07 09:42 PM
What should the relationship with a real estate agent feel like? Should a client or prospective client expect consultation... or manipulation? Pressure, or presentation of facts? Old school boiler room tactics, or the comfort of working with an agent who really cares? I prefer to work with clients on a personal basis, responding to their needs, and anticipating

ar: Active Rain Profiles: Are you "The Jimmy?" Third person profiles; what's up with that? - 10/03/07 10:22 PM
Have you noticed? It would seem that many folks are having their profiles professionally written. Or something. There are a LOT of profiles written in the third person, a la, Seinfeld's "The Jimmy." They occur on AR, but also on other sites, including personal Realtor home pages. " Broker Mike Jaquish is

Wondering if my learning curve is going to turn into a barrage of major league curveballs. I'm standing tough at the plate, digging in, and laughing at myself... But I don't see any Bob Gibson-type knockdown pitches coming. My website design guru tells me we are almost there, and I have wanted a new

ar: Wake County NC Real Estate: Localism Photos and Flickr Photo hosting. - 07/20/07 06:50 AM
Relocators repeatedly ask questions about Raleigh, Cary, and Apex neighborhoods, housing options, and general geography that are best answered by the opportunity to pore over photos. They want to see what the homes, streets, neighborhoods, and vistas are like, in the everyday sense they will live amongst, as opposed to Chamber of Commerce/National

ar: Raleigh,NC Real Estate: Affordable housing takes a lick in The News and Observer's attack on REALTORS® - 07/12/07 11:06 PM
In the ongoing effort to reduce advertisement revenue, to offend REALTORS® everywhere, and to support increased difficulty in home purchasing, the Raleigh News and Observer also took a few swipes at all of us in an editorial that commingled REALTORS®, commissions, legislative corruption, and generally got me worked up a little. Check it

ar: When I look into your eyes...time stands still... or not? - 07/11/07 10:14 PM
I enjoyed Geoirge Tallabas's post on eye contact. Points well taken. But with all the sincerity in the world and a heart absolutely devoid of deceit, there are traps out there for the agent making a sales pitch. We all express ourselves differently and what we say is interpreted differently by various individuals.

One of the first things a Cary Buyer relocating from the North notices is the black stain that develops on many roof surfaces in the Triangle area. And they want to know if it is a problem, or if the roof is degrading. The stain is cosmetically unsightly, but harmless to the
