Here's a new one. I am working on site for a developer. A realtor came into our office with a customer who had indicated interest in purchasing a home in our community. Once the Customer decided to make an offer she said "Do you co-broke? I am a realtor."
Of course I was surprised and the realtor escorting her was very surprised, needless to say. He was out and she was in. We walked over to our office and the other realtor just quietly left.
We wrote the contract and she put down her deposit. Things did not work out and the contract was cancelled. Some of the things that she had to do by a certain date were not done. When the deadline passed and she could not get the financing the developer called her on 'non-compliance'. She had missed important dates. I had been in contact with her reminding her that she had to meet these deadlines, but she was not able to do so.
She wrote me a nasty email stating that I had given her the worst representation of any realtor. As her buyer agent, I should have done this and this, etc.
I responded that I was not representing her, I was representing the seller. However, I think that calling her and encouraging her to make the deadlines confused her. It is hard to believe, though, that a realtor could confuse the relationship, especially when one of her first concerns was that she get her 'co-broke'. But that is exactly what happened.
This has certainly put me on notice. Next time this happens, I will insist that the agent send a note to me that she is representing herself as the 'buyer agent'...It's always something!
I just got back from a week long vacation in Florida. It was through RCI and the place where we stayed was a Gold Crown Resort. It was nice but there really wasn't much to do except go to the ocean, the pool, or golf. The restaurant choices were scant even though the beach was lined with many, many high rise condos. My husband and I were a bit disappointed.
As I entered Myrtle Beach it struck me about the many differences between these two vacation/second home destinations. Myrtle Beach has over 100 golf courses and over 1000 restaurants as well as several theaters which offer great evening entertainment. We have over 60 miles of coastaline with great sandy beaches and Ocean Boulevard is dotted with unique shops that are fun to stroll through.
We also have 'mini cities', The Boardwalk and Barefoot Landing, which offer unique shopping, rides for the kids, water parks, museums, cinemas, and unique entertainment - i.e Magic Quest one of only two in the United States.
The new Market Common is another unique venue with upscale shopping and great restaurants with Live/Work Townhomes and Carriage Homes reminiscent of the olden days. It is just fun and relaxing to window shop at night and stop off at Gorden Biersch or PF Changs for a late night snack.
The new Hard Rock Theme Park opened up this spring and it is a fun place to be, especially if you like to ride roller coasters - there are several of them! The Zepplin is the most impressive and scariest - only the strong survive. It has a great open air theater and has already brought in some impressive entertainers including Kid Rock and the Eagles.
If you are thinking of a destination for your summer vacation, check out all that Myrtle Beach has to offer. I am sure you will not go home disappointed!

The much anticipated Anthropologie opened its doors this week at the new Market Common. The store is beautiful. The woman's clothing and the house wares offered are truly unique but a bit pricey. Just walking through and admiring the unique displays, however, is worth the time. The gift section is filled with an eclectic group of selections sure to please the most discriminating buyer. To check out the store online go to www.anthropologie.com.
The developer McCaffrey Interests,Inc, felt that, Anthropologie would be an important retail component of the master-planned, mixed-use development, Market Common. It includes a mix of retail, restaurant, residential, theatres, and parking - all designed to create a beautiful pedestrian-friendly lifestyle community. The urban center also includes Live/Work Townhomes and Residential Townhomes suitable to the 'city living' many of those here enjoy.
If you would like more information on this community check out my site: Market Common Myrtle Beach.

The new pedestrian friendly urban village in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina offers shopping and dining within walking distance of the townhomes. It opened up on April 3rd with 3 excellent restaurants and the fourth opened over this weekend. The food and service in each and every one is top shelf. I have been fortunate to dine at each one. If you are planning to travel to Myrtle Beach this year, be sure to stop at the Market Common and enjoy lunch or dinner at any of the restaurants below. You will not be disappointed. Gordon Biersch Brewery - Great for pub food and unique brews. Try the Artichoke Dip in a Breadbowl or their signature 'Garlic Fries' Travinias - The table height bar is truly unique, but the food is what is truly memorable. I had the ravioli in Alfredo sauce which was superb. PF Chang's - Chinese dining at its best. The lunch bowls for $8.50 are amazing and the lettuce wrap appetizers with their 'make it yourself' dips are fun and tasty. Tommy Bahamas - The service is excellent and the food is delectable. The Mahi Mahi was very spicy, but that is just what I love. The coconut cake slice was so large that all in my party were able to enjoy it. The open wall on a balmy night made me feel like I was dining in the tropics. If you haven't been to Myrtle Beach in a while, you will be pleasantly surprised to see how the former Air Base has been transformed into this Urban Village. Hope you plan on visiting soon... Check out my website Market Common Townhomes for more information.
